Mainstream News: Shamelessly Diverting Our Attention

I am one of those people who refuse to waste my time watching liberal mainstream news. Yet, I often find that it’s almost impossible to completely escape their nonsense. That’s because my own trusted news channel thinks I need to know every shenanigan that liberals and their media are up to, keeping them front and center of my news experience without actually watching liberal news.

Let me be perfectly clear. I am not calling for a boycott of my news channel. Without it, there simply wouldn’t be a reliable news source and insightful commentary with a more objective voice anywhere on television. Nevertheless, there seems to be more time spent on sensationalizing the spectacle of a joyless, melodramatic, and conspiratorial liberal culture, instead of presenting more stories that really matter to hard-working Americans, such as border security, tax cuts, and healthcare reform.

Take for example the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. This was started by Leftist crybabies who continue to entertain dangerous fantasies of taking down a constitutionally elected president. How many months has the liberal media obsessed over Trump and Russia? And where’s their evidence? Had Hillary Clinton won the election, I doubt we would have heard a peep about Russia. It’s a game of political assassination.

2016: Intolerables vs Deplorables

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

The 2016 election was about the direction of America. The battle was a spectacular culture clash dominated by two groups. On one side were the Intolerables, made up largely by the Left’s complex of academia, news media, and entertainment bent on propagandizing intolerance and division. On the other side stood the “Deplorables,” as Hillary Clinton unaffectionately called them, millions of hard working Americans who supported Donald Trump.

Intolerables vs Deplorables

The Deplorables fought hard and won. And the Intolerables spontaneously combusted!

There are now so many embarrassing images of mindless emotionalism, dysfunction, and lack of self-control littering the American landscape, it’s become the new norm. Nevertheless, we must remember 2016 as the year that exposed the deranged Intolerables for who they really are. Let’s take a closer look:

1. Half-Witted Campus Radicals: Ever since institutions of higher learning have morphed into shameful grievance industries where identity politics, victimhood, and political correctness have flourished, so have we seen more division, anger, and hatred across America. Unfortunately, many students wear their victimhood as an uncommon badge of honor. They see themselves as innocent and everyone else is out to get them.

Now, with Trump having won the presidency, their hysterics have reached a whole new psychosomatic level.

Students across the nation have expressed feeling threatened and unsafe with a President-elect Trump. To help them cope, staff have organized everything from “cry-ins” and counseling to hot cocoa and puppy petting. Some students have even worn safety pins to signal that they’ve physically offered themselves as a “safe space” for others.

The Propaganda of Overreacting to Guns

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

Last week, near a busy outdoor shopping area, I witnessed two women break out into coughing fits while walking by a man who was just about to light a cigar. The match wasn’t even lit, but just seeing the cigar set them off. Perhaps their reaction was purely psychosomatic or maybe they just wanted to send the man a clear message of public disapproval and make him feel uncomfortable for enjoying a cigar. Either way, they sure looked silly.

Empty Holster = Freak Out

Chances are you’ve seen or heard something similar. It seems to me that these kinds of Alinsky-inspired theatrics are becoming increasingly common for those who wish to draw negative attention to certain people or situations for ideological purposes. This is especially true among the anti-gun crowd. To demonstrate, I offer the following recent stories:

STORY #1: Imagine wearing an empty holster and then cited by police for “causing alarm.” This is what D.J. Parten, a student at the University of Alabama and President of Students for Concealed Carry in Alabama experienced while participating in what was billed as an empty holster protest on campus. That’s right. No guns or ammo, just an empty holster. Nevertheless, someone apparently freaked out and three campus police officers showed up. Here’s just a snippet of what happened:

Officer: “You know there’s a no-weapons policy out here, but then you want to push it.”

Parten: “Uh … this is a protest.”

Officer “Doesn’t matter. Did you get permission to wear it?”

Parten: “I don’t need permission to wear it.”

Officer: “You need permission from the university.”

Parten: “To wear a holster?”

Are Segregated Dorms the New Bigoted Safe Spaces For Minorities?

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

The University of Connecticut recently announced plans to build a racially segregated dorm for black male students. What’s next, separate water fountains?

UConn Segregated Dorm, ScHOLA2RS House

As someone who received a doctorate in anthropology from UConn, I certainly don’t relish in drawing attention to how race-conscious my old stomping grounds have become. Nevertheless, I shall call it as I see it.

For starters, the dorm couldn’t have a more obnoxious name. It’s called “ScHOLA2RS House,” which stands for Scholastic House of Leaders Who Are African American Researchers and Scholars. This seems a bit over the top given the name doesn’t quite fit the target residents who university officials think need all the help they can get just to feel successful, let alone like leaders.

“African American males graduate at a lower rate than their peers,” said Dr. Erik Hines, Professor of Educational Psychology and Faculty Director of the initiative. “So the University of Connecticut was forward-thinking in bringing a solution to the issue.” Solution? Perhaps, if your goal is to be a glorified babysitter.

Now if you’re scratching your head over the “foreword-thinking” thing, don’t worry. This is quintessential progressive propaganda. Still, the most important question remains: How will UConn’s segregated housing scheme actually benefit black male students who, after all, have to go out into the real world after graduation and live among a more diverse population?

Actress Kerry Washington’s ‘Fragile’ Personhood Hypocrisy

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

Few things turn Americans off more than when a minority Hollywood elitist takes to the microphone and whines about how unfair and racist America is, especially after they just left their multi-million dollar home and were transported to the event in a luxurious limousine.

Actress Kerry Washington

Enter actress Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope, one of the main characters on the ABC television drama Scandal. Recently, Washington was honored at an ACLU Southern California Bill of Rights Awards Dinner. But don’t let the “Bill of Rights” thing fool you. The beauty of this kind of propaganda is that it allows the Left to masquerade as the moral defenders of our liberty, while at the end of the day not really being interested in defending all individuals, or even all liberties.

Washington was introduced by MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry, whose opening remarks began with three words: “Black Lives Matter.” This set the tone for Washington’s big racist America speech complete with personal lamentations:

“The fact that my very personhood as an African-American, as a woman, as a granddaughter of immigrants, as a kid from the Bronx, the fact that my personhood is still so fragile in this country—that I feel how fragile my personhood is, that my daughter’s personhood, that the personhood of so many of my loved ones is still so fragile—it’s heartbreaking to me.”

This is, to put it bluntly, nauseating to the rest of us. For starters, Washington purports to see herself as a victim in a racist nation. This shouldn’t be completely surprising given how the racial grievance industry has been whipped up to a full froth, particularly in the media and across college campuses. As for Washington, she attended George Washington University.

Don’t Trust Your Dictionary

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

October 16 was National Dictionary Day. Can you think of anything dumber to celebrate?

Pig with Dictionary

While I understand why a lot of parents and teachers might promote educational dictionary activities for kids, there’s one big problem. Modern dictionaries have become a tool used by progressives to stealthily infuse their perverse ideology through deception and manipulation. Meanwhile, as we’re all being properly re-educated, they sneak around rewriting laws and subverting our Constitution. It’s kind of what the pompous pigs did in George Orwell’s classic 1945 dystopia, Animal Farm.

Over the last few years, I’ve noticed that many definitions in my dictionary, especially those with social and political connotations, have been wildly distorted or are just plain wrong. If I can’t even trust my dictionary, why in the world would I want to celebrate it?

To give you an idea of what I’m talking about, let’s take a look at a few words and their twisted definitions, compliments of my Apple computer’s built-in New Oxford American Dictionary, Version 2.2.1:

  • Ku Klux Klan:
an extremist right-wing secret society in the US.
The Ku Klux Klan was originally founded in the southern states after the Civil War to oppose social change and black emancipation by using violence and terrorism. Although disbanded twice, it re-emerged in the 1950s and 1960s and continues at a local level. Members disguise themselves in white robes and hoods and often use a burning cross as a symbol of the organization.
  • supremacist:
    noun
an advocate of the supremacy of a particular group, especially one determined by race or sex; a white supremacist.

To me, the blatant disregard for historical truth is stunning. The Ku Klux Klan was not a “right-wing” secret society as my dictionary would like me to believe. It actually emerged in 1866 as a pseudo-secret political action group created by the—wait for it—Democratic Party! Want proof? Then I encourage you to check out the thirteen volume set of Congressional investigations detailing the Klan’s connection to the Party called Report of the Joint Select Committee to Inquire Into the Condition of Affairs in the Late Insurrectionary States.
