HBO’s Confederacy of Dunces

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

The latest example of liberal Hollywood spin will turn American history on its head by radically reimagining the southern states as victors of the Civil War (1861-1865), with slavery continuing to flourish into the present-day.  David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, creators of HBO’s award-winning adventure series Game of Thrones (2011-), have just been given the green light to produce a controversial new series titled Confederate.

The show’s historically distorted storyline will follow “a broad swath of characters on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Demilitarized Zone—freedom fighters, slave hunters, politicians, abolitionists, journalists, the executives of a slave-holding conglomerate and the families of people in their thrall.”

Frankly, I’m not surprised that one of the network’s next big pet projects will be to completely rewrite the most divisive chapter in American history.  And for what?  To promote more divisiveness?  If the industry’s declining reputation for actually entertaining audiences is any indication, then you can count on Confederate to stoke the flames of racial division.  Malcom Spellman (Empire), who is on-board as both executive producer and writer, explained it best during an interview:

America’s New Racial Segregationists Are On The Left

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

Some of the most bizarre and dysfunctional behavior in America these days takes place on college campuses. Last year student protesters on the University of California-Berkeley campus physically prevented white students from accessing their classes and the Student Union Building to study. Incredibly, protesters declared that UC-Berkeley was their University, even going as far as issuing a “notice of eviction” to white students before demanding that university officials create [safe] “spaces of color” for non-white students.

Safe spaces pop up on college campuses where a high number of students lack basic social skills to cope with diversity of viewpoints. But not all safe spaces are established for this reason. Recently, white students at Loyola University-Chicago were granted their very own “safe space” called Ramblers Analyzing Whiteness (RAW). In the past, anyone who simply expressed an interest in establishing a white group would be viciously attacked as a racist by the campus mob. So where’s the outrage at RAW?

Apparently, it meets the politically correct standards of what a white group should look like. RAW encourages white students to engage “in solidarity with others and their privilege” on “what it means to be white.” It also focuses discussions on their “anger and confusion about institutional racism” and “guilt and hope about internalized racism.” In other words, RAW is out to deconstruct the psychology of white people so whites can admit to each other how racist they really are. It’s just the latest gutter-think in college-sponsored identity politics (aka cultural Marxism) sweeping the nation, leaving the idea of higher education in ruins.

Democrats Have Rigged Elections For 150 Years!

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

Come hook or crook, Democrats are desperately trying to set up for a big win on November 8. Like many people, I’m suspicious of them. They have a bigger reputation of committing voter fraud, intimidation, and even downright violence than any other political party in America. But did you know their desperate schemes date back to at least the 1860s? Unfortunately, this is another one of those history lessons most of us never learned in school. Today, anyone who dares to utter the words “rigged election,” is publicly attacked as “right-wing conspirators.” This is suppose to silence us from doing our civic duty of making sure our elections have integrity. Meanwhile, the real conspirators just keep on riggin’ full steam ahead.

Of Course, He Wants To Vote The Democratic Ticket

Today, we’re becoming more aware of some of the back room shenanigans that Democrats and their political operatives have been up to all along, thinking most Americans would never find out. Oops!

Mass Voter Fraud & Poll Manipulation
In a series of explosive videos, investigative journalist James O’Keefe and his undercover Project Veritas team take us behind-the-scenes of the Democratic Party’s vast secret network of nefarious dealings.

Harriet Tubman’s “Live Free or Die” Spirit

By now, you’re probably aware that the $20 bill is getting a facelift. Apparently, our government has nothing better to do than turn our paper currency into wallet-sized political billboards, starting with replacing the image of white, male, Democrat and slaveholder President Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) with that of black, female, Republican and abolitionist Harriet Tubman (1822-1913).

Harriet Tubman

Personally, I don’t have a problem with Harriet Tubman’s image appearing on our currency. I can care less that she’s black, or a woman for that matter. Those are just superficial differences that progressive bureaucrats love to exploit, even though such attributes say nothing about the value of an individual.

However, what intrigues me most about Tubman is that, despite being born into slavery on a Maryland plantation in 1822, she refused to think of herself as a victim. You might even say she was driven by a “Live Free or Die” spirit. Unfortunately, this side of Tubman is never mentioned in the history books. Therefore, I shall do the honors.

The Danger of the “Black Lives Matter” Movement

By Heather Mac Donald. A must read article originally published in Imprimis. Mac Donald is the Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor of City Journal.

For almost two years, a protest movement known as “Black Lives Matter” has convulsed the nation. Triggered by the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, in August 2014, the Black Lives Matter movement holds that racist police officers are the greatest threat facing young black men today. This belief has triggered riots, “die-ins,” the murder and attempted murder of police officers, a campaign to eliminate traditional grand jury proceedings when police use lethal force, and a presidential task force on policing.

Dangers of the Black Lives Matter Movement

Even though the U.S. Justice Department has resoundingly disproven the lie that a pacific Michael Brown was shot in cold blood while trying to surrender, Brown is still venerated as a martyr. And now police officers are backing off of proactive policing in the face of the relentless venom directed at them on the street and in the media. As a result, violent crime is on the rise.

The need is urgent, therefore, to examine the Black Lives Matter movement’s central thesis—that police pose the greatest threat to young black men. I propose two counter hypotheses: first, that there is no government agency more dedicated to the idea that black lives matter than the police; and second, that we have been talking obsessively about alleged police racism over the last 20 years in order to avoid talking about a far larger problem—black-on-black crime.

The Secret Racist History of the Democratic Party

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

Have you heard of Josiah Walls or Hiram Rhodes Revels?  How about Joseph Hayne Rainey?  If not, you’re not alone.  I taught history and I never knew half of our nation’s past until I began to re-educate myself by learning from original source materials, rather than modern textbooks written by progressive Democrats with an agenda.

First Black Congress print 1874

Interestingly, Democrats have long ago erased these historic figures from our textbooks, only to offer deceitful propaganda and economic enticements in an effort to convince people, especially black Americans, that it’s the Democrats rather than Republicans who are the true saviors of civil liberties.  Luckily, we can still venture back into America’s real historical record to find that facts are stubborn things.  Let’s take a closer look.

An 1872 print by Currier and Ives depicts the first seven black Americans elected to the U.S. Congress during the Reconstruction period of 1865 to 1877—and they’re all Republican!

From left to right:

  • Sen. Hiram Rhodes Revels, R-MS (1822-1901):  Already an ordained minister, Revels served as an army chaplain and was responsible for recruiting three additional regiments during the Civil War.  He was also elected to the Mississippi Senate in 1869 and the U.S. Senate in 1870, making him America’s first black senator.
  • Rep. Benjamin Turner, R-AL (1825-1894):  Within just five years, Turner went from slave to wealthy businessman.  He also became a delegate to the Alabama Republican State Convention of 1867 and a member of the Selma City Council in 1868.  In 1871, Turner was even elected to the U.S. Congress.

Are Segregated Dorms the New Bigoted Safe Spaces For Minorities?

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

The University of Connecticut recently announced plans to build a racially segregated dorm for black male students. What’s next, separate water fountains?

UConn Segregated Dorm, ScHOLA2RS House

As someone who received a doctorate in anthropology from UConn, I certainly don’t relish in drawing attention to how race-conscious my old stomping grounds have become. Nevertheless, I shall call it as I see it.

For starters, the dorm couldn’t have a more obnoxious name. It’s called “ScHOLA2RS House,” which stands for Scholastic House of Leaders Who Are African American Researchers and Scholars. This seems a bit over the top given the name doesn’t quite fit the target residents who university officials think need all the help they can get just to feel successful, let alone like leaders.

“African American males graduate at a lower rate than their peers,” said Dr. Erik Hines, Professor of Educational Psychology and Faculty Director of the initiative. “So the University of Connecticut was forward-thinking in bringing a solution to the issue.” Solution? Perhaps, if your goal is to be a glorified babysitter.

Now if you’re scratching your head over the “foreword-thinking” thing, don’t worry. This is quintessential progressive propaganda. Still, the most important question remains: How will UConn’s segregated housing scheme actually benefit black male students who, after all, have to go out into the real world after graduation and live among a more diverse population?

Casting Nancy Drew: No Whiteys, Please!

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

CBS Entertainment has announced plans to remake the classic television series Nancy Drew. What young actress wouldn’t want to audition for the opportunity to reprise the role of this iconic detective? Unfortunately, there’s just one problem: White women need not apply.

Nancy Drew

“I’d be open to any ethnicity,” but “[She will] not [be] Caucasian,” said CBS President Glenn Geller.

Imagine if Geller had said he was open to casting Nancy Drew as any ethnicity, but that she would not be black or Hispanic. He would be inundated with hate mail for being a racist. In fact, had any other business suggested that black or Hispanic women need not apply, there would be all kinds of discrimination lawsuits, Al Sharpton would swoop in to stoke the flames of bigotry, and today’s new totalitarian activist groups like the NAACP would make it their mission to have the business shut down.

But we’re talking Hollywood, where diversity (aka color) is considered a virtue of the highest order. How do I know? I’m an actress turned cultural anthropologist who spent several years behind-the-scenes interviewing some of the most distinguished Hollywood insiders about the industry’s obsession with race and social engineering. As for Geller, let’s just say his methods don’t surprise me.

Subtracting White, Adding Color
Nancy Drew made her debut in 1930, with the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories original novel series running from 1930 to 2003. The book franchise became so successful, it spawned an assortment of screen reincarnations, including an ABC television series in the 1970s, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries and a made for television movie Nancy Drew in 2002. Additionally, Warner Brothers Pictures made four Nancy Drew movies in the 1930s and a fifth movie in 2007.

Are White Oscar Nominees Worthy?

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

Have you heard the news? All 20 Oscar nominees in the acting categories are white! There’s even a Twitter hashtag called #OscarsSoWhite. Now Spike Lee, Jada Pinkett Smith, Viola Davis, Michael Moore, and other race conscious glitterati have announced that they will not be attending Hollywood’s most prestigious ceremony on February 28.

#OscarsSoWhite

What message does this send to the nominees whose exceptional work is supposed to be celebrated by all? Is everyone else at the awards ceremony now expected to take their cue from race-baiting crybabies and forego congratulating this year’s winners?

To make matters worse, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Cheryl Boone Isaacs, who is black, had the audacity to say that she was “heartbroken and frustrated” over the lack of diversity among this year’s nominees. For the second year in a row, too many whiteys were voted in by the Academy’s reported 6,261 voting membership, of which the majority is supposedly white, though it’s overall composition remains unclear. Because of this, the Academy members have already been called a bunch of racists. But is this really all there is to the story?

As is the case with all propaganda, especially in Hollywood, you have to read between the lines.

Are this year’s nominees worthy of Oscar nods? Of course they are, as long as you take into account the fact that each year somebody has to win regardless of how good or bad the choices are. But that’s not the question everyone should be asking. The right question is, “Why isn’t anyone crying foul over the lack of quality performances overall, which is the real point?” Nevertheless, race conscious elites can’t help but to just hold up diversity (aka color) as a moral virtue, even though their diversity is based on a superficial attribute that has nothing to do with the value of an individual’s talent.

Actress Kerry Washington’s ‘Fragile’ Personhood Hypocrisy

By Kimberly Bloom Jackson

Few things turn Americans off more than when a minority Hollywood elitist takes to the microphone and whines about how unfair and racist America is, especially after they just left their multi-million dollar home and were transported to the event in a luxurious limousine.

Actress Kerry Washington

Enter actress Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope, one of the main characters on the ABC television drama Scandal. Recently, Washington was honored at an ACLU Southern California Bill of Rights Awards Dinner. But don’t let the “Bill of Rights” thing fool you. The beauty of this kind of propaganda is that it allows the Left to masquerade as the moral defenders of our liberty, while at the end of the day not really being interested in defending all individuals, or even all liberties.

Washington was introduced by MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry, whose opening remarks began with three words: “Black Lives Matter.” This set the tone for Washington’s big racist America speech complete with personal lamentations:

“The fact that my very personhood as an African-American, as a woman, as a granddaughter of immigrants, as a kid from the Bronx, the fact that my personhood is still so fragile in this country—that I feel how fragile my personhood is, that my daughter’s personhood, that the personhood of so many of my loved ones is still so fragile—it’s heartbreaking to me.”

This is, to put it bluntly, nauseating to the rest of us. For starters, Washington purports to see herself as a victim in a racist nation. This shouldn’t be completely surprising given how the racial grievance industry has been whipped up to a full froth, particularly in the media and across college campuses. As for Washington, she attended George Washington University.
